BCSR 5: Celebrating 5 Years of BCSR Programming

Brandon Schneider News

Founded in 2012, BCSR began its first programming five years ago. To celebrate our achievements, and to learn more about the past, present, and future of the Center and the people that make it work, this semester we’ll be deploying this logo and a 5 Questions” series with BCSR community members (and perhaps a couple more “5“-themed initiatives as well 🙂 ) Look for interviews with past and present faculty directors, grad students, and postdocs, all reflecting on their work and its connection to the Center.

To give some context to our celebration, you can see our initial events here. Below you can read our first “Message from the Directors,” from November 2013:

We are delighted to announce the launch of the BCSR website. As one of Berkeley’s newest research ventures, our mission is to support and promote the best contemporary scholarship on religion across the disciplines. We are committed to engaging audiences both inside and outside the walls of Berkeley, in the hope that our scholarship might shape the many ongoing conversations about religion and its place in the world, past, present, and future. Look here for upcoming BCSR and campus events, for research opportunities for faculty and graduate students, and for news from the world of religion and scholarship. If you would like to receive our monthly newsletter, or to receive announcements of upcoming events, please subscribe to our mailing list. We’re looking forward to a fantastic year.
